A game that will be remembered as one that somehow got away, as the points were shared in a scoreless draw with Ballinroad on Saturday morning.

From the first whistle, we created a host of chances and looked the more likely side throughout. Time and time again we worked ourselves into great positions, but just couldn’t find the finishing touch. Some days, no matter how much you create, the ball just won’t go in — that’s football.

Credit must go to the Ballinroad goalkeeper, whose performance was nothing short of outstanding , his performance was Buffonesque Save after save kept them in the game, and combined with a resilient and determined defensive display, they proved incredibly difficult to break down.

Despite the frustration in front of goal, there were plenty of positives in the performance, particularly in the chances created and the overall play. On another day, this is a game we win comfortably.
