Under 17 – Waterford Junior League
Hibs 3–1 Waterford Crystal
After a narrow defeat in their previous outing, the lads came into this one determined to respond, but it proved a difficult afternoon away to Hibs on Sunday.
The hosts started brightly and took the lead early, finding the net after just 9 minutes with a tidy finish. To their credit, the lads settled into the game after that setback and competed well for long spells, but Hibs struck again on the half-hour mark to double their advantage.
Trailing 2–0 at the break, the team looked to regroup and push their way back into the contest. Despite our efforts, it just wasn’t clicking on the day, and Hibs extended their lead with a well-taken free kick in the second half.
The response was immediate though, with Adam Jackman pulling a goal back and give the lads a lifeline. The lads kept battling and pushed hard in search of another goal to close the gap further, but it wasn’t to be.
A tough day at the office, but plenty to learn from. Attention now turns to the next fixture — a home clash against Villa on April 19th.
