We’re delighted to recognise a fantastic achievement by Noel Connolly, who was recently appointed as the match official for the Under 13 Muster Cup Final at Ben Wadding Park – a huge occasion in the schoolboy football calendar.
The game itself lived up to the billing, with Waterfordl coming out on top in a thrilling 3–2 victory, and Noel playing a key role in ensuring the match was officiated to the highest standard. Being selected for a cup final of this level is a real mark of trust and quality, and reflects extremely well on Noel and on Waterford Crystal FC as a club.
Noel’s journey is also a brilliant example of the opportunities available through refereeing. From local games to major finals, refereeing offers a pathway to be involved at the highest levels of schoolboy football, while developing confidence, decision-making and a deeper understanding of the game.
Importantly, Noel has also offered to support and guide any young players or members of the club who might be interested in taking up refereeing, helping them get started and pointing them in the right direction.
This is something we would strongly encourage. As a club, developing our own referees is a great initiative and benefits everyone involved in the game.
If you’re a young player, parent, or member who has ever thought about refereeing, this is proof of what can be achieved. Feel free to reach out to the club — or to Noel — to learn more.
Well done again Noel, a fantastic achievement and a credit to Waterford Crystal FC ![]()
