Under 12 – Waterford Schoolboy League
Waterford Crystal 2–1 Villa
Waterford Crystal’s Under 12 side kept their title challenge firmly on track yesterday morning with a hard-fought 2–1 victory over a determined Villa outfit at Crystal Park.
Knowing a win was vital to stay in touch with the teams at the top of the table, the lads started brightly and enjoyed plenty of early possession. The Villa goalkeeper was kept busy in the opening stages, producing a number of fine saves as the home side pressed for an opener.
Despite our pressure, Villa showed their quality and just before half-time they struck to level the game, sending the sides in at the break all square after a competitive first half.
To their credit our lads responded well after the restart and showed great character to regain the lead, making it 2–1. From there it became a real test of determination and teamwork, as Villa pushed hard for another equaliser. The lads dug deep, defended bravely and showed great composure to see the game out and secure three vital points.
It was a display full of heart and togetherness, with the work rate and resilience on show something that will stand to this group as the season progresses.
Well done to all the players and coaches, and thanks as always to the parents for your continued backing from the sidelines. 💙🤍
